Computer Cleaning

Cleaning your computer and your computer components and peripherals helps keep the components and computer in good working conditions and provides a longer computer life span. Below is an example image of how dirty the inside of your computer case can get. Computer components attract dust, dirt, lint, carpet fibers, pet hair, and smoke particles. At least two fans are bringing air into the computer to keep the internal components cool. Unfortunately, the air also contains grime, which settles on the components, and can cause a variety of problems. Even the thinnest coating of dust will raise the temperature of your components. The grime buildup causes overheating, which eventually results in permanent hardware failure, downtime, data loss and costly repairs. Below is an example of what your computer may look like inside and after we clean it to ensure proper cooling of the system is restored.

How often should you “clean” your computer? It depends on your environment. As a rule, complete cleaning should be done at least once a year. If the computer is used in a hot, dusty, smoky or moist environment, cleaning must be performed more frequently. Every three to six months would then be recommended.
